Guindon had a spring for the ages in 1978, when he led the Winnipeg Jets to their second WHA AVCO World Trophy. At age 27, Guindon was at his very best for the Jets, notching eight goals and five assists for 13 points in only nine postseason game. Winnipeg's roster also included Hockey Hall of Famer Bobby Hull and Swedish superstars Ulf Nilsson and Anders Hedberg, but it was Guindon who outshined them all as the Jets went 8-1 in the postseason. Guindon had at least one point in all eight of the wins, and the only time he was held off the scoresheet was in the team's lone loss -- in the opening round at Birmingham. During the 1978 WHA AVCO World Trophy Finals -- a four-game sweep of New England -- Guindon scored two goals in Game 1, one in Game 2, one in Game 3, and had an assist in Game 4. He led all WHA players in postseason plus-minus rating and scoring percentage.

June 9, 1979 -- Rights retained by Winnipeg prior to NHL Expansion Draft because Detroit opted not to reclaim him and he was already a contracted player on Winnipeg's WHA roster.
