Miscellaneous
Full Name:
Milton James Black
Post-Draft Teams: Winnipeg (WCHL); Dallas (CHL); Winnipeg (WHA); Jacksonville (AHL); Sodertalje (Sweden);
Augsburg (West Germany)
European Career: After three
seasons with his hometown Winnipeg Jets, Black felt he was not enjoying
the game anymore. Taking the advice of an ex-teammate, he went to Sweden
for the 1975-76 season and play for Sodertalje SK. Black and his wife
moved to Sodertalje, where he needed to spend a couple of months
establishing residence before he could appear in Swedish Elitserien
games. Black embraced the new culture and took daily Swedish lessons. He
would spend two full seasons with Sodertalje before moving to West
Germany for another two seasons with Augsburger EV, where he led the West German Second Division with 40 goals and 58 points in 1977-78.
He eventually retired from the game after his final season with Augsburg
in 1978-79.
