Career Beyond Hockey: Returned to
Northern California after retirement, settled in the San Jose area, and
got into the restaurant business. In 1989, he opened a restaurant called
O.D.'s Kitchen, which he also managed, in Gilroy, Calif. The restaurant
specialized in breakfast and lunch, and O'Donoghue worked their every
day until he was too ill to continue. ... Passed away at age 57 in 2007
after a 14-month battle with kidney cancer.
