Transaction History

June 5, 1972 -- Claimed by Vancouver from Boston in NHL Intra-League Draft. May 1973 -- WHA rights traded by Chicago to Minnesota in exchange for future considerations. June 1974 -- Signed WHA contract with Minnesota. Sept. 4, 1975 -- Traded by Minnesota (WHA) with George Morrison and WHA rights to Wally Olds and Joe Micheletti to Calgary in exchange for John McKenzie and cash. August 1977 -- Rights assigned by WHA to Quebec after Calgary franchise officially folded. Sept. 19, 1977 -- WHA rights and contract obligations transferred by Quebec with Peter Donnelly to Edmonton to settle dispute over rights to Ron Chipperfield, who had signed with Edmonton after Calgary team folded even though Quebec officially owned his playing rights.

Significant Injuries

Missed most of 1969-70 season with cracked kneecap, an injury that required two surgeries. ... Missed first half of 1973-74 season with back injury that required surgery. He did not return to action until January 1974.

Selected by Chicago Cougars in 1972 WHA Draft -- the first-ever WHA Draft -- in February 1972. Played on Vancouver's No. 1 line with Bobby Schmautz and Andre Boudrias in 1972-73. Scored first NHL hat trick for Vancouver in 4-3 win over California on Dec. 26, 1972. Scored second NHL hat trick for Vancouver in 7-4 victory over Toronto on March 25, 1973.
Passed back into own (Calgary) net during delayed penalty call vs. Phoenix on Jan. 25, 1977. Was a member of Calgary Cowboys (WHA) team that folded on May 31, 1977. Also played center during his pro hockey career, particularly with Calgary in the WHA. Worked as an instructor at hockey schools during off-seasons of his playing career.
