Traded for Ken Dryden: Allen will be forever known in hockey history as one of the two players traded by Montreal to Boston in exchange for Hall of Famer Ken Dryden. At the time, Allen was the player that Boston really wanted, as he had been playing for the Bruins' junior team in Niagara Falls. Montreal had drafted Allen ahead of Dryden, and new Canadiens general manager Sam Pollock offered Allen as part of a trade for the goalie. The trade, one of the most famous in NHL history, was Pollock's first as a GM.
