Miscellaneous: Was only one of two eligible Mokosak brothers drafted in 1981, despite fact that older brother, Carl, was ranked in The Hockey News draft preview issue as the No. 22 WHL prospect. Carl Mokosak later signed with Calgary as a free agent on July 21, 1981.
Personal: Full name is John W. Mokosak. ... Younger brother of former NHL player Carl Mokosak.
HOW HE GOT AWAY
FREE AGENCY: Mokosak did not re-sign with Hartford after the 1986-87 season. He became an unrestricted free agent after the 1987-88 season and signed with Detroit on August 29, 1988.
